Little Old Lady: Curling and One Year Older

Good morning!

Hope your weekend is off to a great start 🙂 Let’s get everyone up to speed on what’s been going on around here…

Thursday Night’s Curling Recap

Well, it’s safe to say the house/broom/button/old folks OWNED me on Thursday night at my first official curling game. I. AM. SORE.

My biceps ache, my shoulders are tight, and my abs are sore… I’m a hurtin’ unit! Guess that’s what I get for talking smack about the ‘slow, boring, old folks game.’ Sweeping those stones is serious business!

We had SO much fun at the curling rink. We played the ‘Ice Cubes’, one of the best teams in the league and managed to hold them at a 6-5 win over our short-handed team of three. It was my first experience with curling and I must say, I did pretty well! Chalk it up to beginner’s luck, but I held my own and got some solid accolades from the rival team when all was said and done. Yey, me!

Needless to say, I may have found a new sport that I’m going to love! I can’t wait to polish up my throws and learn a little more about the game.

Friday’s Birthday Recap

Yesterday marked my 28th birthday and it was yet another fantastic one!

The day started off with our new birthday tradition– getting to open your present RIGHT at the midnight mark the big day. Ummm, best tradition EVER!

Marc surprised me with some amazzzzzing Dr. Dre BeatsSoloHD headphones that I’ve been lusting after for months on end. The sound quality is phenomenal and I can’t wait to test them out in the gym.

After a good night’s sleep, I woke up to enjoy some sweet and delicious french toast with a big glass of OJ, prepped by the man, then showered up and hit the road for a day of shopping in the city. One of my girl besties, Stacie, joined me for the 3 hour trek to the GTA where we indulged in an afternoon of Starbucks and shopping. I was relatively well behaved and came home only having purchased a beanie and black leggings from Aritzia.

Just before dinner, we headed over to my brother’s condo to meet up with him and his gf for some pre-dinner drinks and celebrations. Dee and Greg surprised me with the gift of a M.A.C. shopping spree for my birthday. I was over the moon! M.A.C. is my absolute favourite makeup.

We ended our evening in Unionville at the Unionville Arms Pub & Grill for some dirty cheeseburgers, fries, and beer. I’m a sucker for a tall glass of ice cold Stella and a big juicy cheeseburger.

All in all, I’d say this was a fantastic birthday spent with amazing people. I wouldn’t have changed a thing 🙂

More celebrations to come this weekend and next!
